XMR Rear Hub
The White Industries XMR Rear Hub is a lightweight, precision-machined 6-bolt disc rear hub built for mountain, gravel, road, and touring bikes. We machine, assemble, and inspect every hub in our Petaluma, California facility. As a result, the XMR delivers smooth performance, lasting durability, and premium American craftsmanship.

The XMR traces its heritage back to the original White Industries Ti Cassette Hub introduced in 1992. For more than 30 years, we’ve refined our hub designs through real-world testing and continuous innovation. Today, every XMR carries the same proven DNA: simple engineering, dependable performance, and long-lasting reliability.

The XMR uses the industry-standard ISO 6-bolt disc rotor interface. Therefore, it delivers dependable braking performance in every riding condition. Its rugged construction makes it an excellent choice for mountain biking and loaded touring. Meanwhile, its low weight and classic high-flange design also make it ideal for gravel bikes and performance road builds.

At the heart of the XMR are four premium Enduro sealed cartridge bearings. Two bearings support the 6061-T6 aluminum hub shell, while two more support the 6Al-4V titanium freehub body. Together, they provide smooth rolling performance, efficient power transfer, and exceptional long-term durability.

Choose from six spoke drilling options, five colors, two axle configurations, and five freehub body options. Hub Engagement Kits
Product Details

These are the small parts that live inside our rear hubs and freehub bodies. We have used two different engagement systems over the years, an older 24 tooth system up to around 2018, and a newer/current 48 tooth system that all current hubs ship with. Mixing 24T pawls with 48T ratchet rings (and vice versa) will cause severe damage to your hub! Refer to the technical documents below to help you figure out which system you have. Hint: count the number of “clicks” in one rotation of your freehub or count the teeth on the ratchet ring.

Specs
- All parts only work with White Industries hubs
- Each engagement “system” is made up of 3 pawls, 3 springs, and a matching ratchet ring
  - Pawls and springs fit into pockets in the freehub body (freehub bodies will accept either 24T or 48T pawls)
  - Ratchet ring threads into the hub shell
- Pawls come in 24T or 48T styles
- Springs work on both 24T and 48T systems
- Ratchet rings come in 24T or 48T styles
- Ratchet rings can be replaced or swapped with a tool (see Tools>Hub Ratchet Ring Removal Tools page)
  - Part # RRINGTL24 for 24T rings
  - Part # RRINGTL48 for 48T rings
  - No tool needed for installation (rings thread in by hand and “seat/tighten” with pedaling force)
Compatibility
- Any hub we ever made with a 24T system will be compatible with the 24T pawl and spring kits
- The very first hubs we made (the “Ti Cassette) will work with the current 24T pawl kit, but not the 24t ratchet ring (different threads)
- We do not recommend swapping ratchet rings on old hubs (10+ years) unless the ring is damaged

Freehub Body O-Ring

The Freehub Body O-Ring creates the seal between the freehub body and hub shell on White Industries hubs. Over time they can become brittle and crack so it’s not a bad idea to replace yours if you see any signs of deterioration. These will fit every freehub body we’ve ever made.

XMRT Rear Tandem Hub

As with all our hubs, the XMRT (Cross Mountain Road Tandem) draws on over 30 years’ worth of hub manufacturing experience and real-world testing, going back to the “Ti Cassette Hub” we introduced in 1992. We’ve been doing this for a long time, and every White Industries hub we make has that original DNA in it; simple, durable, dependable.

The XMRT is a tandem-specific 6-bolt disc rear hub designed around the QR x 145mm axle spacing standard which is (mostly) unique to tandems. The hub shell is designed specifically around this axle standard and puts the disc rotor in the correct spot for the ISO 6 bolt rotor/caliper alignment standard. This is not simply a standard XMR hub with a wider axle! That would not work because the disc rotor would end up 10mm shy of lining up with the disc caliper.

The XMRT rotates on four Enduro brand bearings: two in the 6061-T6 aluminum hub shell, and two in the 6/4 titanium freehub body. XMRT’s are made here in our Petaluma, Ca. shop, and available in four spoke drillings, two colors, two axle configurations, and four different freehub bodies.
